Steven
Verhaert
Steven Verhaert received his musical training at the Brussels
Royal Music Conservatory, where he took 1st Prize for notation,
trumpet (M. Mellaerts) and chamber music. With the "Beaux-Arts
Brass Quintet" he also received the higher diploma for chamber
music.
After his studies in Brussels he went on to study at the Staatliche
Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe (Germany) in the class
of Prof. Reinhold Friedrich's. Since 1995 Steven has been a member
of the trumpet section attached of deFilharmonie and is trumpet
teacher and instructor for windband conducting at the Royal Flemish
Conservatoire of the Hogeschool Antwerpen . He is also professor
for chamber music at the Musikhochschule, Frankfurt. He is a regular
guest in foreign orchestras and has worked with such conductors
as C. Abbado, M. Tilson-Thomas, D. Harding, H. Wolf, P. Herreweghe,
among others.
His previous conducting engagements have included the Symfonisch
Jeugdorkest Edegem and the Koninklijke Harmonie ‘De Eendracht’
in Wommelgem. He is currently conductor of de Fanfare "Sint
Jansvrienden" from Wiekevorst and the Casino Brass Ensemble
from Sint-Niklaas. He is also regularly invited as conductor with
deFilharmonie, the brass ensemble of the Radio-Sinfonie-Orchester
Frankfurt (hr-brass) and the Sinfonisches Blasorchester, Mainz.
As arranger he is active with publishers BERIATO MUSIC and many
ensembles and orchestras (World Brass, hr-brass, deFilharmonie)
enlist his services for all kinds of arrangements and transcriptions. |
